James 3:16-17

16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Lord give me the strength to put aside selfish desires.  I have seen the chaos and sin that it brings into my life.  I see the destruction it and turmoil it creates within my family.  I seek you Lord, I seek to serve you and put you before all else.  The selfishness from years of practice are ingrained and second nature, but through Christ I am forgiven.  I praise you Lord for my savior and I pray that I can stand strong against the urges of selfishness, that I can move forward to purge the motives from my being.  Lord grant me an awareness of my actions, and my thoughts in this area.  I seek your wisdom and the purity that allows me to come in your presence.
