Day 119 – Proverbs 14:34

Proverbs 14:34

34 Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a disgrace to any people.

My thoughts today may not follow the verse completely or at all.  I see today as being a day that will be very challenging.  Already I feel vulnerable and tempted this morning and I have not even started the day.  Dreams last night have set off thoughts, and I can see that I am in a highly aroused state.  I have had to be very diligent with fantasy control and thought suppression so far.

Some days are much harder than others, and some I don’t struggle at all.  Today however has that atmosphere that puts me on edge.  My dreams will do that to me, especially when they become sexual in nature, such as last nights.  I feel fortunate that I have dealt with many of the triggers and have good habits in place to help me when tempted.  Work is likely to be very involved and intense today as well which is great for diverting my attention and keeping me focused.

To tie it in with today’s verse, all my concern is over staying in a place of righteousness. Falling back into sexual sin is not something I take lightly and it is not something that I want to deal with.  While the struggle to stay out might be difficult at times, it pales in comparison to the daily hell that is sexual sin.  I have disgraced enough people and myself, there is no need to go back there.
